The mission of the Port Orange Music Academy is to provide a quality music education to all students by focusing on the individual performer.  All aspects of the various musical opportunities, including beginning band, advanced band, jazz band and ensembles, leads to a well rounded player.  Performance opportunities with the Port Orange Music Academy are available for all.  Additionally, through the band, students will learn a feeling of belonging, team work, time management, dedication, self esteem, leadership, cooperation and responsibility.

About The Director

Ed Clowers, Director of Bands, holds a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Central Florida.  He  began his career as a high school band director in Tallahassee, FL.  Since 1984, he has taught elementary music and directed a superior rated band program in Port Orange, FL.  His bands have competed at Universal Studios Orlando in various National competitions.  Each year, his bands have earned superior ratings.  In 2008 and 2010, they earned the distinct honor of Grand National Champions!  In 2011, the Advanced Band and Jazz Band won the title of Grand Champions at the OrlandoFest Music Competition.  Most recently, his 2012 Jazz Band and Advanced Band earned superior ratings & won the title of Grand Champions at the OrlandoFest Music Competition.

Through this unique band program, Mr. Clowers instills in his students, a passion for learning music and a fulfillment of group success.
